40 TANKS TO SOUP KITCHENS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

The implications of the recent spike of COVID cases in Venezuela – which include extreme food, water and fuel shortages - are affecting millions of children. For many, their only lifeline comes from locally run social programmes – like the soup kitchens and community centres run by our partners. But the pandemic has put these programmes severely at risk.

For many of our partners, the biggest problem they are facing is the hugely inconsistent supply of water. Many report only receiving water every two weeks or even once a month, or regularly having to travel long distances to collect water to run their operations. In response, in March 2021, we donated 40 water tanks to soup kitchens across the country. This will enable our partners to safely store large quantities of water, meaning they have a regular supply and can carry out their operations and plan ahead with certainty.
